I'm just learning the ropes with Challonge, etc. I've raced in two events so far and it was way cool. I'm interested in anything ... I like the idea of qualifiers, and multiple-race series. Really like the idea of some sort of payout, even with some sort of entry fee ... maybe a dollar or two through PayPal or something? This could be an organizational nightmare and a bear to administer (not me), but could be way cool for the participants (me). The host should get some sort of a cut, or compensation to make it worth their while.
Maybe we need some sort of sanctioning body to keep it all organized and fair, someone to promote, a newsletter, someone to sponsor events and series ... well, this could get out of hand, maybe even become a national pass time ... armchair racing at its finest! I'm kidding on some of this, but some of it could stick. What do you think?

I'M LOVIN YOU ALREADY GRIST!!! I haven't ever heard of you (not to be rude) BUT, I LOVE YOU'RE IDEAS! I especially love the Paypal entry fee idea! this would be GREAT compensation for the reward to the winner. I am the one who lets people know (as in sends the info to someone who posts on a big page I'm also on) and I'm the one who runs the entire race event deal (qualifying & racing) but, I think with this forum set up it will be MUCH easier to do qualifying on. Plus I now have other admins that can help me instead of a ONE MAN SHOW running the deal. If ANYONE is willing to sponsor us for racing rewards it would take that worry OUT of the equation. Plus the "REWARD"will lure people in and make this championship really cool. I am however thinking, I will run a points system NOT FOR THE WINNER'S AND RUNNER-UPS ONLY but, for EVERYONE who shows up to EITHER the FIRST or SECOND race. I use caps to emphasize important things

I like the points idea. Points for each round won not just for winning the race .

I use caps to emphasize important things I think this could happen. I can see an official rulebook (PDF, or forum thread) complete with official classes. A good introduction on how to set up the cars as well as a "how to" on setting up the Challonge account, race procedures, a racing directory with user names and contact info, and a schedule. I'm uncertain about any licensing required with the DoorSlammer folks, but something like DSRA (DoorSlammer's Racing Association). There may be a way to get some ad space for some Official Sponsors, which would help to bring in some real money for expenses and prizes. I know this is a crazy idea, but it could work. Ryan Gramling has been doing events through the DoorSlammer Facebook Shootout page. He is a great guy and has been very helpful to me. I'm not leaning one way or another, but maybe we could get together and get something going ... together. The game has it's problems, no doubt, but overall, it is a pretty cool simulation. And, when you blow a motor, you just head back to the starting line without spending a dime. It may even be possible to bring the game's owner/programmer's onboard and get some real advertising dollars involved. I don't know how possible this is. I don't know all of the limitations, rules, and procedures to running a forum like this. But ... this is so crazy ... so crazy, it just might work! Is it worth the effort? I don't know ...

Good you mentioned Ryan Gramping, Ed, he's been running shoot out events for Doorslammers a while now, was only thinking on weekend we or whoevers going to organise & coordinate these events should make sure we're not clashing with his! Not just out of respect, but would help entrant numbers for hopefully both! Austin have you ever had the chance to speak with Ryan, or check him date's.?

No I haven't gotten to talk to him in detail Lolight. I need to but this Wednesday's race will just be done like the last one except for on this site. I plan on talking with Ryan and/or Ed to get their schedules for their races to make sure we can work stuff out and get a good car count!
